Softball Recap: Willow Canyon Find Success

With a playoff win on the line, Willow Canyon rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Campo Verde Coyotes 6-5. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Coyotes recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Mataya Olson was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three doubles, two runs, and two RBI. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Caylee Walding, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI.

Willow Canyon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They are 16-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Willow Canyon's record now sits at 23-9. As for Campo Verde, their loss dropped their record down to 13-20.

Coming up, Willow Canyon will head out on the road to square off against Mountain View at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wildcats 2.7, the Mountain Lions 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. Campo Verde does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
