The Metro-East Lutheran Knights will square off against the Alton Redbirds at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Metro-East Lutheran is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.6 points per game this season.

Metro-East Lutheran had been on a four-game streak of scoring at least 55 points, but Mater Dei put an end to it on Thursday. Metro-East Lutheran was outmatched by Mater Dei and fell 56-26. The match marked Metro-East Lutheran's lowest-scoring game so far this season.

The losing side was boosted by Junior Brown, who posted 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ian Skelton, who scored four points and six boards.

Meanwhile, Alton had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 56-54 win over the Generals. Given the Redbirds' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Generals are ranked 66th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Alton's victory bumped their record up to 23-6. As for Metro-East Lutheran, their loss dropped their record down to 15-10.
