Preview: Moon Area Tigers vs. South Fayette Lions
The Moon Area Tigers will head out on the road to challenge the South Fayette Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Moon Area will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.
Moon Area scored the most points they've had all season to find success last Tuesday. Everything went their way against Mars as Moon Area made off with a 79-58 victory. Given Moon Area's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while Mars is ranked 90th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, even though Avonworth scored an imposing 56 points on Friday, South Fayette still came out on top. South Fayette walked away with a 66-56 win over Avonworth. The win was familiar territory for South Fayette who now have four in a row.
Moon Area's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.6 points per game. As for South Fayette, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season.
Moon Area skirted past South Fayette 54-52 in their previous meeting on January 3rd. The rematch might be a little tougher for Moon Area since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
