Baseball Recap: Mira Mesa Snags Third Victory in Last Four Games

Mira Mesa won against Grossmont last Wednesday with five runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. Mira Mesa didn't even let the West Hills Wolf Pack on the board, marking Mira Mesa's second-straight 5-0 shutout. This was payback for the Marauders, who suffered a 4-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

Zerek Zamora was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Mira Mesa is undefeated when he allows at most two earned runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Zamora was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tristan Aguon, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nathaniel Widelski, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.

Mira Mesa is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. This is the second loss in a row for West Hills and nudges their season record down to 4-6.

Looking ahead, Mira Mesa will take on Southeast Career Tech in a tournament on Tuesday. As for West Hills, they will be taking part in a tournament against Otay Ranch at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
