Recap: Saranac Lake Red Storm vs. Northern Adirondack Bobcats
If the Saranac Lake Red Storm were feeling good off their 68-28 takedown of the Madrid-Waddington Yellowjackets last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Saranac Lake took a 62-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Northern Adirondack. Saranac Lake was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Northern Adirondack apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Despite the loss, Saranac Lake still got an impressive performance from Mik Denkenberger, who scored 25 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Denkenberger continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Melvin Cirikovic was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, Saranac Lake were working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Saranac Lake's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 4-4. As for Northern Adirondack, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Saranac Lake's road trip will continue as they head out to face Peru at 7:00 p.m. on January 10th. Peru is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home. As for Northern Adirondack, they will head out on the road to face off against Saranac at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
