Basketball Recap: Bad Axe Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Bad Axe was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 55-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ubly Bearcats. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hatchets of the 62-57 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2024.

Leading Ubly to victory were Collin Franzel and Owen Warchuck. Franzel dropped a double-double with 21 points and ten boards, while Warchuck posted 11 points and five rebounds. Franzel is crushing it when it comes to points: he's scored at least 19 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Brady Stanton, who scored six points.

Bad Axe's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Ubly, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Looking ahead, Bad Axe will square off against Marlette at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Ubly, they will take on Cass City at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
