Football Game Preview: Southwind Jaguars vs. Kirby Cougars

The Southwind Jaguars will square off against the Kirby Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Southwind sitting on six straight victories and Kirby on three.

If Kirby heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Southwind took over last week. The Jaguars snuck past Briarcrest Christian with a 48-42 win on Thursday.

The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Kelvin Perkins and Hudson Tucker. Perkins had a great game and rushed for 97 yards and one score on only eight carries. Meanwhile, Tucker was balling out in the loss, throwing for 231 yards and five touchdowns, while also rushing for 71 yards on only nine carries.

Meanwhile, Kirby owes their defense a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. They strolled past Millington Central with points to spare, taking the game 19-0.

Southwind's victory bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Kirby, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.
