Basketball Recap: Albert Lea Comes Up Short

Albert Lea lost against Northfield back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Albert Lea Tigers took a blow against the Northfield Raiders, falling 76-43. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 315th, while the Raiders are ranked 132nd).

Northfield's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Callie Lynch led the charge by going 6 for 9 on her way to 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amber Mahal, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 12 points in addition to five assists and five boards.

Albert Lea's loss was their 22nd straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Northfield, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Albert Lea will challenge Caledonia at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Northfield, they will take on Austin at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
