Preview: Immanuel Christian Warriors vs. Mountain View Lobos
The Immanuel Christian Warriors will head out on the road to take on the Mountain View Lobos at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Immanuel Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday.
Immanuel Christian has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 56-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cathedral. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Immanuel Christian in their matchups with Cathedral: they've now lost six in a row.
Despite their loss, Immanuel Christian saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Hector Perez, who scored 15 points along with seven assists, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Noah Ayala, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Mountain View waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They really took it to Clint for the full four quarters, racking up a 66-38 win at home. Mountain View pushed the score to 54-27 by the end of the third, a deficit Clint had little chance of recovering from.
Matthew Slosar had an outrageously good game as he scored 17 points along with five rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Mendoza, who scored ten points along with four steals.
Immanuel Christian's loss ended a eight-game streak of away wins and brought them to 25-8. As for Mountain View, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-18 record this season.
Friday's contest is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Immanuel Christian have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 45.1% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Mountain View struggles in that department as they've made 39.1% of their threes this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Immanuel Christian beat Mountain View 58-50 in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Immanuel Christian since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
