Basketball Game Preview: Concord Christian Lions vs. Cross Stingrays

The Concord Christian Lions and the Cross Stingrays will round out the year against one another at at 1:15 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Concord Christian saw some tournament action on Friday. They blew past Halls 61-39.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Cross, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They strolled past Charleston Collegiate with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 57-39. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Stingrays as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Cross found their leader in sophomore Savannah Hollings, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 13 boards. The dominant performance gave Hollings a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Alaysia Hollings, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 boards.

Cross smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Concord Christian has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season. As for Cross, they now also have a winning record of 6-5.
