Baseball Recap: Washington Extends Winning Streak to Four

Washington won the last time they faced American and things went their way on Thursday too. The Huskies came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 5-2. The win was familiar territory for the Huskies, who have now won four contests in a row.

Hugo Marks spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up seven Ks. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Washington is 5-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-4 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Peyton Romero, who fired off two home runs and one stolen base while going 3-for-3. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Washington lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Washington's record is now 8-5. As for American, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-5.

Washington and American will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time the Huskies see the field they'll take on Skyline at 4:00 p.m. on the 14th. As for American, their break will end when they face Irvington at 4:00 p.m. on the 15th.
