            Softball Recap: Glendale Vikings vs. North Star Cougars        
        
		
        
        
            Glendale couldn't beat North Star  on Monday even though they stacked four runs on them in the fifth inning. The Vikings fell just short of the Cougars by a score of  7-6. The Vikings were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their  loss the last time these teams played  back in April of 2024.

 Hannah Simmers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned  (and two unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  tossed less than six  strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
 At the plate,  Ava Weld made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and  went 1-for-4 with one  home run, two  runs,  and two  RBI.  Lia Dick was another key player,  going 2-for-3 with one  home run and one  double.
Glendale has  traveled a rocky road recently, having  lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record  this season. As for North Star, they moved to 5-13 with that  victory, which also ended their 12-game losing streak.
 Glendale does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for North Star, they will take on Northern Bedford County at 4:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 6.7  runs per game this season.
