Baseball Game Recap: Caverna Colonels vs. Larue County Hawks

Caverna had lost six straight at home, but on Monday they dropped down to 1-13 to make it seven. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 17-0 to the Larue County Hawks, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Colonels were not able to make up for their defeat to the Hawks from their previous meeting back in May of 2025.

As for Larue County, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by six runs or more this season.

For Larue County's part, Cooper Wootton was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). Those six strikeouts gave Wootton a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Brayden Singleton was incredible, firing off two home runs and six RBI while going 2-for-3. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Dekker Thomas, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.

Looking ahead, Caverna will challenge Glasgow at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Colonels' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Scotties have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Larue County, they will square off against Hart County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
