Basketball Recap: Leetonia Comes Up Short

Leetonia lost against United back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Leetonia Bears opened the new year with a less-than-successful 51-38 defeat to the United Golden Eagles.

Despite the loss, Leetonia saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Dylan Johns went 5 for 9 on his way to 14 points.

Leetonia has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for United, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-8.

Leetonia didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-46 defeat against East Palestine on the 7th. United has also already played their next contest, a 51-46 loss against Southern on the 7th.
