The Mendon Hornets will venture away from home to challenge the Bellevue Broncos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Bellevue will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Mendon extended their winning streak to five on Friday. The Hornets really took it to Colon for the full four quarters, racking up a 50-7 victory. The Hornets pushed the score to 36-7 by the end of the third, a deficit the Magi had little chance of recovering from.

Owen Gorham was his usual excellent self, rushing for 244 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 15.3 yards per carry. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in October of 2024. Brayden Crites was in the mix as well, providing Mendon with one score.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Mendon's defense and their five sacks. Leading the way was Crites with two. Mendon received some extra help from Crites, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bellevue). They claimed a resounding 42-14 win over Athens. The contest was close at halftime, but the Broncos turned on the heat in the second half with 30 points.
Bellevue's win came from a few key players Mendon will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Zain Qahwash, who rushed for 56 yards and a pair of TDs, and also threw for 85 yards and two touchdowns on only six passes. Bellevue's leading receiver Wyatt Dunlap was Qahwash's top target yet again, picking up 85 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Bellevue proved: they limited Athens to a paltry 1.9 yards per carry. While two picked up at least five total tackles, Dunlap stood above the rest. He picked up 85 receiving yards and two TDs. Bellevue's ground attack was stronger, having averaged four.
Bellevue now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Mendon, their record now sits at 5-0.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Mendon has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 439.6 total yards per game. It's a different story for Bellevue, though, as they've been averaging only 242 total yards. Will Mendon be able to march up the field at their leisure again, or will the Broncos flip the script?
Mendon took their victory against Bellevue when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 66-42 score. In that matchup, the Hornets amassed a halftime lead of 42-22, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
