Basketball Recap: Six Straight Home Victories for San Diego Academy

San Diego Academy lost to Cristo Rey back in February of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. Everything went the San Diego Academy Cavaliers' way against Cristo Rey as the San Diego Academy Cavaliers made off with a 56-30 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cavaliers.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead San Diego Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jason Love, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 18 boards. Those 19 points gave Love a new career-high. Rudy Nieto was another key player, putting up 14 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds.

San Diego Academy's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.2 points per game. As for Cristo Rey, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.

San Diego Academy will venture away from home to take on Health Sciences at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Cristo Rey, they are taking a road trip to square off against Gompers Prep Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
