Churubusco and Lakeland are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2015, but likely not for long. The Eagles will take on the Lakers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Churubusco is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.

It was a Battle of the Birds when Churubusco challenged Fairfield on Monday. The Eagles lost 9-3 to the Falcons.

Brody Lawrence was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Lakeland got themselves on the board against Angola on Saturday, but Angola never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Hornets. The Lakers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by ten runs or more this season.

Drannon Miller and Dylan Bateman did most of the damage at the plate: Miller got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Bateman went 1-for-2 with one home run and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that Bateman has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Keyan Arroyo, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Lakeland pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Churubusco, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Churubusco has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Lakeland struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Churubusco couldn't quite get it done against Lakeland in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 5-2. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
