Baseball Game Preview: Quitman Panthers vs. Union Yellowjackets

The Quitman Panthers will take on the Union Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Quitman knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Union likes a good challenge.

If Quitman beats Union with 13 runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. Quitman came out on top against Louisville by a score of 13-9 on Saturday.

The team relied heavily on Daniel Peters, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. What's more, he posted three hits, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Malik Davis was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Union hadn't done well against Morton recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Union came out on top in a nail-biter against Morton, sneaking past 6-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Yellowjackets.

Kooper Fultz was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Quitman pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Union, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Quitman took their win against Union in their previous matchup last Friday by a conclusive 12-5. Will Quitman repeat their success, or does Union have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
