Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Helix). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the El Capitan Vaqueros 71-31. The Highlanders have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Vaqueros, too.
Despite the loss, El Capitan had strong showings from Kale Curo, who posted six points and three steals, and Ethan Adams, who had six points. That's the most steals Curo has posted since back in November of 2024.
Helix's win bumped their record up to 6-14. As for El Capitan, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 15 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Helix will square off against Monte Vista at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Monte Vista knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven contests -- so hopefully Helix likes a good challenge. As for El Capitan, they will challenge Steele Canyon at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
