Basketball Recap: South Gate Comes Up Short

South Gate was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They were beaten by the Arcadia Apaches 82-40. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1218th, while the Apaches are ranked 208th).

Arcadia's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Noa Eteuati-Edwards led the charge by going 5 for 10 en route to 13 points in addition to eight assists and five rebounds. That's the most assists Eteuati-Edwards has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Nick Wallace Jr, who posted 14 points.

South Gate's loss dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Arcadia, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season.

South Gate didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-57 defeat against Legacy on the 22nd. Arcadia has also already played their next matchup, an 82-45 win against Hoover on the 21st.
