Softball Game Preview: Civic Memorial Eagles vs. Roxana Shells

The Civic Memorial Eagles will square off against the Roxana Shells at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Monday just wasn't the day for Civic Memorial's offense. They fell just short of Triad by a score of 1-0 on Monday. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Roxana, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 16-5 margin over Wesclin on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Shells, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Ava Cherry was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Lilli Ray, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Roxana kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 11-3 when they post 11 or more hits.

The win snapped Roxana's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 14-10 record. As for Civic Memorial, their loss dropped their record down to 8-16.

Civic Memorial skirted past Roxana 5-4 in their previous matchup back in March. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Shells have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
