Soccer Game Preview: Vidor vs. Lumberton

The Vidor Pirates will head out to take on the Lumberton Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Vidor has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Lumberton will arrive with four straight victories.

Vidor came up short against Bridge City on Tuesday, falling 9-2. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 772nd, while the Cardinals are ranked 207th).

Brayden Fagg wasn't going to let Bridge City walk away unscathed as he scored both of Vidor's goals, bringing his season total up to two goals.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lumberton). They put the hurt on Hardin-Jefferson with a sharp 6-1 win on Friday. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Raiders with their most commanding win of the season.

Lumberton's victory bumped their record up to 6-4-2. As for Vidor, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-13.

Vidor was able to grind out a solid win over Lumberton when the teams last played back in February of 2024, winning 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Vidor since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
