Preview: Coudersport Falcons vs. Cowanesque Valley Indians
The Coudersport Falcons will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cowanesque Valley Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Coudersport will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
Coudersport put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 48-20 victory over Bucktail.
Gavyn Ayers was on fire: he rushed for 157 yards and six touchdowns on only 11 carries. Ayers was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 50 yards.
Meanwhile, Cowanesque Valley's defense might just be the story of Friday's game given the score. They came out on top against Wellsboro by a score of 12-0. The win was just what Cowanesque Valley needed coming off of a 48-14 defeat in their prior game.
Dave Hess and Fletcher Good were among the main playmakers for Cowanesque Valley as the former rushed for 86 yards and a touchdown and the latter rushed for 137 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.6 yards per carry.
Their wins bumped Coudersport to 6-3 and Cowanesque Valley to 5-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's matchup: Coudersport has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 162.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Cowanesque Valley struggles in that department as they've been even better at 232.6 per game. It's looking like Thursday's game might have some serious battles in the trenches.
