Soccer Game Preview: Houston vs. Homer

The Houston Hawks are taking a road trip to challenge the Homer Mariners at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Houston is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: Redington, who was ranked 20th at the time (Houston was ranked 22nd). The Hawks fell just short of the Huskies by a score of 4-3 on Tuesday. Houston have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Homer has been on a difficult stretch since their win on April 25. They lost 5-0 to Colony on Friday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Houston's loss dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Homer, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7-1.

Houston might still be hurting after the 8-0 loss they got from Homer when the teams last played back in April of 2023. Can the Hawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
