Evansville Central extends home winning streak to ten

Recap: Evansville Central Bears vs. Evansville Reitz Panthers

The Evansville Central Bears have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 21 points or more this season. They put the hurt on Evansville Reitz with a sharp 59-37 win on Wednesday. Winning may never get old, but Evansville Central sure is getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Evansville Central found their leader in underclassman Madalynn Shirley, who scored 23 points along with three blocks. That makes it six consecutive games in which Shirley has scored at least 25% of Evansville Central's points. Lindsey Laine was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five assists and five steals.

Despite the loss, Evansville Reitz still got an impressive performance from Kaelyse Mitchell, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendall Kaiser, who scored six points along with six rebounds.

Evansville Reitz struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.

Evansville Central's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-2. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 26.4 points. As for Evansville Reitz, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Evansville Central will be home for the holidays to greet Tecumseh at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Tecumseh will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. Evansville Reitz will be home for the holidays to greet Heritage Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
