With a playoff win on the line, Morgan Township rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They blew past the Hammond Academy of Science & Tech Hawks, posting a 63-31 win. The matchup marked the Cherokees' most dominant victory of the season.

Aidan Johnson was the offensive standout of the game as he went 6-for-7 on his way to 14 points. What's more, he also posted an 86% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Cal Lemmons, who posted 12 points and three steals.

Morgan Township was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hammond Academy of Science & Tech only eight assists.

Hammond Academy of Science & Tech's loss came despite strong showings from Jeffery Patton and Gabriel Reyes. Patton shot 50% from the field en route to 23 points and six rebounds, while Reyes earned two points in addition to six assists, five boards, and four steals. That was a full 74.2% of Hammond Academy of Science & Tech's points, marking the fourth time in a row Patton has scored more than a third of the team's points.

Morgan Township's win bumped their record up to 6-16. As for Hammond Academy of Science & Tech, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-17 record this season.

Morgan Township will take on Washington Township at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hammond Academy of Science & Tech does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
