Basketball Recap: Surrattsville Hornets vs. Douglass Eagles

After flying high against Central last Friday, Surrattsville came back down to earth. The Surrattsville Hornets had to suffer through an 85-29 loss at the hands of the Douglass Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 251st, while the Eagles are ranked 99th).

Anaiya Morrison continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Douglass, shooting 4-for-6 from long range and dropping a triple-double with 22 points, 11 assists, and ten steals. Morrison has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Khloe Thomas, who went 9-for-17 on her way to 23 points in addition to seven boards and three blocks.

Surrattsville's defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Douglass, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.
