Basketball Recap: Sonoma Academy Comes Up Short

If Sonoma Academy was feeling good fresh off their 74-33 takedown of Roseland University Prep last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Sonoma Academy Coyotes were just a bucket shy of victory on Monday and fell 44-43 to the St. Vincent de Paul Mustangs. The Coyotes were not able to make up for their defeat to the Mustangs from their previous meeting back in December of 2023.

Leading St. Vincent de Paul to victory were Jack Ellis and Justin Greco. Ellis went 7 of 16 on his way to 17 points and eight rebounds, while Greco dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards. Greco has become a key player for St. Vincent de Paul: the team is 10-2 when he posts at least ten boards, but 1-2 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Chelew, who posted eight points.

Sonoma Academy's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for St. Vincent de Paul, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.

Sonoma Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-31 win against Technology on the 14th. St. Vincent de Paul has also already played their next contest, a 53-51 defeat against Ukiah on the 15th.
