Eisenhower is a perfect 8-0 against Salina Central since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Tigers will welcome the Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Eisenhower's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Dodge City with a sharp 17-0 victory. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Demons recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Breckin Reicks was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Reicks was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kylie Hahn, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Emilee George, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Eisenhower always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dodge City only posted an OBP of .267.
Meanwhile, Salina Central hadn't done well against Goddard recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Mustangs narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Lions 9-7. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.
Sophia Johnson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and five unearned) runs on seven hits.
On the hitting side, Salina Central let Harper Turpin and Charlotte Gordon run wild. Turpin went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double, while Gordon went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three hits gave Gordon a new career-high. Valerie VanZant was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Salina Central pushed their record up to 11-3 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Eisenhower, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Eisenhower beat Salina Central 3-0 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
