Baseball Recap: DeForest Comes Up Short

DeForest was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Verona Wildcats. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Norskies of the 11-5 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Joseph Hall was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, DeForest saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kyle Ugalde, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

DeForest's defeat dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Verona, they pushed their record up to 11-7 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. DeForest will host Waunakee at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Norskies surely won't give up without a fight. As for Verona, they will square off against Madison La Follette at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
