McClave waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Akron Rams. That's more bragging rights for the Cardinals, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: McClave took both sets by at least ten points. The final score came out to 25-12, 25-15.

Abrielle Gomez paced McClave's offense, picking up eight kills. Gomez got some help from Yesenia Almanza and her 19 assists. Gomez also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Addison Vallejos, each putting up two.

McClave's victory bumped their record up to 12-1. As for Akron, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.

McClave has already played their next contest, a 2-1 loss against Holyoke on the 27th. As for Akron, they will host Weldon Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
