Recap: May River Sharks vs. Colleton County Cougars
After a string of six wins, the May River Sharks 's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 61-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Colleton County. May River was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Colleton County apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
May River's loss came despite strong showings from Joshua Hunter and Gage Duncan. Hunter dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds, while Duncan scored 19 points along with six assists. Duncan continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Tanner Macy, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
May River's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Colleton County, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. May River will take on Hilton Head Island at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Colleton County, they will be playing at home against Bluffton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
