Basketball Game Preview: Blackford Bruins vs. Alexandria-Monroe Tigers

Blackford and Alexandria-Monroe are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2015, but not for long. The Blackford Bruins will square off against the Alexandria-Monroe Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Blackford has struggled recently with seven defeats in a row, while Alexandria-Monroe will arrive with six straight victories.

Blackford lost 43-19 to Eastbrook on Friday.

Despite their loss, Blackford saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Adyson Sargent, who posted two points and four steals, was perhaps the best of all. That's the most steals Sargent has posted since back in November of 2024.

Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Alexandria-Monroe had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They took their match with ease, bagging a 76-18 win over the Owls. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 18 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Alexandria-Monroe's victory bumped their record up to 23-1. As for Blackford, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-22.

Blackford was dealt a bruising 67-22 loss at the hands of Alexandria-Monroe in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Alexandria-Monroe's Jacklynn Hosier, who almost dropped a double-double on 28 points and nine steals. Now that Blackford knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
