Football Recap: Out-of-Door Academy Thunder vs. Santa Fe Catholic Hawks
There was early excitement for Out-of-Door Academy after they claimed the first score on Friday, but it was Santa Fe Catholic who ended up claiming the real prize. The Thunder took a 27-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hawks. The Thunder were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hawks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2023.
Despite the defeat, Out-of-Door Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Brady Cleveland picked up 115 receiving yards and one score. Cleveland also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making one tackle and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception.
Even if they lost, Out-of-Door Academy's defense still kept up the pressure with four sacks. Winston Crisci was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Santa Fe Catholic to victory, but perhaps none more so than Reagan Korlacki, who rushed for 96 yards and a pair of TDs, and also picked up 34 receiving yards. Another pass catcher making a difference was Zyrell Thomas, who gained 94 total yards and a touchdown.
Out-of-Door Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Santa Fe Catholic, the win (which was their fifth in a row dating back to last season) raised their record to 2-0.
