Volleyball Recap: Alton Takes a Loss

Alton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Edwardsville Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 back in April.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Alton sadly wound up on the wrong side. The final score came out to 25-15, 19-25, 25-9.

Edwardsville found their leader in sophomore Jude Lawrence, who had 17 assists and four digs.

Alton's defeat dropped their record down to 6-16. As for Edwardsville, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-11 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Alton will take on Collegiate Medicine & Bioscience at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. The last three games the Owls have played have been within one set, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Edwardsville, they will square off against Belleville West at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
