Basketball Recap: Mayville Takes a Loss

Mayville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 90-14 loss at the hands of the Laconia Spartans. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 406th, while the Spartans are ranked 14th).

Mayville's record now sits at 2-11. As for Laconia, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Mayville Cardinals duke it out with the Augustine Prep Lions at 3:45 p.m. on Saturday. As for Laconia, they will welcome West De Pere at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. West De Pere will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Laconia surely won't give up without a fight.
