Softball Game Preview: Goldthwaite Eagles vs. Harper Longhorns

For the second straight game, Goldthwaite will face off against Harper. The Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Longhorns at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Goldthwaite will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

While Goldthwaite's win against Harper wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Eagles skirted past the Longhorns 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted since February 29, 2024.

Danika Macias made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off ten hits. Macias was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, Kenley Howard was excellent, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. Andi Edwards also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Goldthwaite's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-8. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Harper, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-7-1.
