After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Barrington, Leyden was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Lyons Lions 7-5. The Eagles have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Lions, too.

Angelina Guillen and Carmen Richardson did most of the damage at the plate: Guillen went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double, while Richardson scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits Richardson has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Gianna Olan, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

The win got Leyden back to even at 3-3. As for Lyons, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Leyden will head out to face off against Fremd at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Lyons, they will face off against Willowbrook at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season.
