Basketball Recap: Pebblebrook Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

It was a Battle of the Birds when Pebblebrook challenged South Cobb on Tuesday. The Pebblebrook Falcons walked away with a 61-49 win over the South Cobb Eagles. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while the Eagles are ranked 93rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the loss, South Cobb still got an impressive performance from Donald McMillan, who went 6 of 12 en route to 17 points. McMillan's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Khalil Sylla was another key player, putting up nine points.

Pebblebrook is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.8 points per game. As for South Cobb, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-9.

Pebblebrook wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 55-45 victory against Paulding County on the 24th. South Cobb has also already played their next game, a 64-48 win against Osborne on the 24th.
