Basketball Recap: Horizon Drops Season-High Score on Desert Mountain

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Horizon). They blew past the Desert Mountain Wolves 60-38 on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Huskies in their matchups with the Wolves: they've now won six in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Horizon to victory, but perhaps none more so than Avery Olson, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Horizon is 11-3 when Olson posts eight or more boards, but 4-5 otherwise. Peyton Schiltz was another key player, going 7 for 16 en route to 18 points and six assists.

Despite the defeat, Desert Mountain saw an underclassman step up: freshman Caroline Workman dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten rebounds. Those 15 points gave Workman a new career-high. Liz Egan also deserves some recognition as she posted her first blocks of the season.

Horizon's record now sits at 15-8. As for Desert Mountain, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.

Horizon has already played their next contest, a 50-38 win against Chaparral on the 4th. As for Desert Mountain, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 73-42 loss against Notre Dame Prep on the 7th.
