Baseball Recap: Austin Victorious

Austin owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Del Valle Cardinals by a score of 3-0. For the Maroons, this counts as revenge for the 6-5 win the Cardinals walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2025.

Austin gave Carter Haydon the start and clearly made the right call: he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over 5.2 innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave Haydon a new career-high. Jayson Martinez picked up the save, pitching 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Austin's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jimmy Bramble, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple.

Austin hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Austin's win bumped their record up to 8-6-1. As for Del Valle, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-9.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Austin beat the Cardinals by a score of 10-3 on Friday.
