Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cannon). They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat the Charlotte Christian Knights 95-19. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Knights are ranked 480th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cannon's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Khloe Thompson, who went 7 for 13 on her way to 18 points and six steals. Thompson is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jakaila Gaskin, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds.

Cannon was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sierra Myers, who posted six points. Kadence Davis also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

Cannon has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points per game. As for Charlotte Christian, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-14.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cannon has already played their next contest (against Charlotte Country Day School), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Charlotte Christian will face off against Charlotte Latin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Charlotte Christian is facing Charlotte Latin at the right time seeing as Charlotte Latin is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
