Softball Recap: Monticello Magic vs. Big Lake Hornets
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Monticello and Big Lake meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Magic fell just short of the Hornets by a score of 10-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Magic have suffered against the Hornets since April 5, 2019.
Josi Ordorff put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave her a new career-low. She was even better at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.
Ordorff wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Paige Flanigan, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Another was Taylor Marcus, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Monticello's defeat was their tenth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-13.
Coming up, Monticello will head out on the road to square off against Delano at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Big Lake, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Buffalo at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
