Baseball Recap: Bentworth's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

Bentworth hadn't done well against Chartiers-Houston recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Bearcats came out on top against the Buccaneers by a score of 6-3. The win was some much needed relief for the Bearcats as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Sam Wade made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That double marked the first that he hit this season.

In other batting news, Lucas Burt was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Bentworth's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 0-4 when he doesn't). Cameron Krejci was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Bentworth was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chartiers-Houston only posted a batting average of .267.

The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-5. As for Chartiers-Houston, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.

Looking ahead, Bentworth will square off against California at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Chartiers-Houston, they will challenge Bedford at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bisons' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Buccaneers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
