Baseball Recap: Fairfield Prep Comes Up Short

Fairfield Prep made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Guilford, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Jesuits fell just short of the Grizzlies by a score of 4-2 on Saturday. The loss continues a trend for the Jesuits in their meetings with the Grizzlies: they've now lost four in a row.

Andrew Wong was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, Vinny Lombardo made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run. JJ Schachinger was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base.

Fairfield Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 16-10. As for Guilford, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.
