Basketball Game Preview: Wekiva Mustangs vs. Cypress Creek Bears

The Wekiva Mustangs and the Cypress Creek Bears will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Wekiva took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They came out on top against Ridge Community by a score of 59-50.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Cypress Creek's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of Faith Christian by a score of 59-57. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Bears have suffered since November 20, 2024.

Wekiva has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a massive bump to their 11-13 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.2 points per game. As for Cypress Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 11-13.

Wekiva was able to grind out a solid victory over Cypress Creek in their previous matchup back in January of 2021, winning 60-51. Does Wekiva have another victory up their sleeve, or will Cypress Creek turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
