Baseball Game Preview: Cleveland Warriors vs. Putnam Kingsmen

The Cleveland Warriors will take on the Putnam Kingsmen at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.

Cleveland came up short against Canby on Wednesday, falling 14-4. The Warriors have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Arlo Oetting was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Noah Karoli, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Putnam sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 victory over McDaniel on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Kingsmen.

Nolan Edwards and Ian Pollard were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Edwards pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Meanwhile, Pollard tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At the plate, Edwards scored two runs while going 1-for-3, while Pollard got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Joe Salvione was excellent, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Johnson, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Cleveland came up short against Putnam when the teams last played back in May of 2017, falling 6-1. Can Cleveland avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
