Softball Game Preview: Garrett Railroaders vs. Angola Hornets

Garrett hasn't had much luck against Angola recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Railroaders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hornets at 5:30 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Thursday.

Garrett's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They blew past Hamilton 15-0. The result was nothing new for the Railroaders, who have now won four matches by 11 runs or more so far this season.

Remi Winebrenner was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Peyton Grindstaff was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases and four runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Addy Work, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

Angola not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 7, 2024 (when they won 10-0). They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over Fremont.

Garrett pushed their record up to 9-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Angola, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.
