Baseball Recap: Kasson-Mantorville Finds Home Field Redemption Against Zumbrota-Mazeppa

There's no place like home for Kasson-Mantorville, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They never let the Zumbrota-Mazeppa Cougars get on the board and left with a 6-0 win on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Komets have posted against the Cougars since May 9, 2019.

Zumbrota-Mazeppa's batters probably weren't too happy with Quinn Weis, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 16 Ks (he gave up a single walk). With that strong performance, Weis is now averaging an impressive 5.9 strikeouts per game.

At the plate, Sam Graunke was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Holden Bolster, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Kasson-Mantorville has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.9 runs over those games. As for Zumbrota-Mazeppa, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kasson-Mantorville will head out to face off against Lake City at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Komets are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Zumbrota-Mazeppa, they are taking a road trip to square off against Caledonia at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
