Basketball Game Preview: Omaha Westside Warriors vs. Millard South Patriots

Two dominant guards in Emre Gedik and Koby Meyers are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Omaha Westside Warriors just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Millard South Patriots at 7:15 p.m. on Saturday. Omaha Westside is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 69.9 points per game this season.

On Friday, Omaha Westside made easy work of Papillion-LaVista and carried off an 87-66 victory. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while the Monarchs are ranked 65th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Gedik was his usual excellent self, going 7 of 9 on his way to 26 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Those 26 points gave him a new career-high. Donnie Barfield was another key player, going 5 for 8 en route to 17 points.

Meanwhile, Millard South didn't have too much trouble with Millard West on Friday as they won 74-58. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Patriots.

Omaha Westside pushed their record up to 13-2 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.8 points per game. As for Millard South, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.

Everything went Omaha Westside's way against Millard South in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as Omaha Westside made off with an 86-62 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Omaha Westside since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
